Group calls for a Nation of God-fearing Citizens

The Christian Conscience, a non-denominational group, has called on Nigerians to embrace the culture of good-heartedness and be God-fearing to move the nation forward.
According to its headship, since democracy, which is about people has come to stay in the country; the ruled and the led must work together for good governance and a better society.

In a communiqué signed by its National Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Akinluyi and the National Secretary, Rev’d (Dr.) Kolawole Verrals, at the end of its monthly meeting in lkeja, Lagos, the group urged those seeking for public offices to have self-determination, self-control and plans to improve the socio-economic situation of the nation.

The group, which believes that leadership and following are interdependent, said: “When leaders imbibe Godly principles, it will guide them in the discharge of their duties and also bring about good governance.”

It called on all Nigerians, irrespective of religious differences to participate fully in all the electoral processes and facilitate national rebirth where the aspirations of the nation could be achieved.

The group also disclosed that different programmes would be held this year to sensitise the people including politicians and government agencies on good governance now that the political process is gaining momentum.

It said: “We intend to achieve this through symposia, workshops, road shows and lectures, not only in Lagos, but in some other states of the federation.”
