Group holds awareness on disability inclusion

Persons Living with Disabilities

About 6,000 persons will, this year, embark on an advocacy walk to raise national and global consciousness about disability inclusion, promoting positive attitudes and behaviours towards people with disabilities.

Tagged ‘2024 Out On A Limb (OOAL) Advocacy Walk’, organised by a non-governmental organisation, The Irede Foundation (TIF), specifically targets children and youths with disabilities, as well as the broader community of persons with disabilities.

Slated to be held on Saturday, with the theme ‘Celebrating Every Step’, a statement by the Programmes Associate, Obafemi Ekundayo, explained that OOAL advocates for inclusive access to quality education, ensuring that learners with disabilities have equal opportunities for lifelong learning.

It stated that the walk also focuses on bridging the employability gap for individuals with disabilities. According to it, by fostering a positive attitude and behaviour towards PWDs, the event aims to create a more inclusive workforce and promote economic empowerment for the community.
