Group pass vote of confidence on Governor Eno

A socio-political group, U-Advocates has passed a vote of confidence on Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno to mark his first anniversary in office.

In a communique issued at the end of its Special Congress held in Uyo, and signed by its members on Saturday, May 11, 2024, the group applauded Governor Eno for initiating projects that have not only touched lives but brought a fresh wave of governance to the state.

Describing Governor Eno’s administration as the “Golden Era” of governance in the state, the group highlighted several achievements of the Umo Eno administration including the completion of internal road networks in Akpan Andem market, construction of model primary schools and health centres, revocation and re-awarding of Nsit Atai-Okobo Road, and the ongoing construction of Ring Road 4.

“Governor Umo Eno has packed so much accomplishment into his first year in office that his performance slate is filled with many positive results like the Construction of Arise Shelter for the poor in the 31 local government areas and the recent payment of ₦500,000 business grant to over 800 persons. In addition to this, the Governor has successfully united the political class across party lines.

“To secure our waterways, the Akwa Ibom Chief Executive acquired 14 gun boats and also donated security vehicles to the police and the military. He also established Ibom Community Watch which has provided employment to many youths,” the communique read.


The group also commended Governor Eno for his achievements in agriculture, education, health, housing, security, infrastructure and entrepreneurship, as well as, payment of leave grants and promotion allowances to civil servants and pensions and gratuities to aged pensioners, stating that these can only be achieved by a governor with a human face.

It also commended him for introducing compassion into governance, empathy and candour, and successfully implementing political inclusivity, which according to them has brought unity across party lines, the group expressed optimism “that the years ahead will be signposted by more promising and life touching programmes and opportunities.”

With the vote of confidence, the group reaffirmed its support for the ARISE Agenda of the governor, pledging total support to all programmes of the Eno administration. The group urged the governor to continue pushing projects that will yield good dividends of democracy, which is his electoral promises to Akwa Ibom people.

While the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Etiene Ukpong poured encomium on the governor, the Deputy Coordinator of the group, Mr. Bassey Ukpong moved the motion for the vote-of-confidence on the governor, which was duly seconded by the Personal Assistant to the Governor from Itu, Hon. Richard Ntia.
