Agbu Kefas, Taraba State governor.

A group, Search Common Ground (SCG), has called on the Taraba State government to establish a Peace and Reconciliation Commission.

In a chat with The Guardian, yesterday, in Jalingo, SCG Head of Office for the Middle Belt Region, Godwin Okoro, underscored the importance of the proposed commission.

He emphasised its potential to address conflicts and promote peace-building initiatives within the state.

Okoro urged the government to consolidate its efforts and prioritise welfare of the people, ensuring they benefit from the dividends of democracy.

He stressed the significance of maintaining open collaboration and

working with key actors and institutions to achieve sustainable peace, highlighting the need for continued cooperation between the government and non-governmental organisations such as SCG to tackle the state’s challenges.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Taraba Forum for Farmers and Herders, Okoro emphasised the vital role of communities in ensuring peace throughout the state.
