• Vows to fortify state’s borders, use ICT to win
• Women group declares support for Aiyedatiwa

An aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and business mogul, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, has said that with the nine university degrees at his disposal, he is the most qualified candidate to win the November governorship election in Ondo State.

Ibrahim, who is currently representing Ondo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said that he was fully equipped to be the next governor of the state, going by the resources he had deployed into harnessing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to win at the polls.

The lawyer, who was the governorship candidate of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) in 2003, disclosed this to newsmen in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday while declaring his intention to run in the forthcoming election.

According to Ibrahim, he will fortify the borders of the state by making Amotekun Corps a world-class security outfit, which he stressed would be IT-driven.

He said: “I need to use my nine degrees and my brain to help Ondo State. I think this is the time I have to really sort out human problems in this state. I want to develop Ondo State; I just want to contribute, and if it is not possible, no problem. You get your destiny from where you go.

“If we can be secured individually, we will secure the state. So, I’m saying now that the Amotekun Corps will have the highest attention in terms of information technology. “

Meanwhile, a group in Ondo State, known as Odatiwa Women Wing, has declared support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to emerge as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the forthcoming governorship primary of the party.

Convener of the group, Olamide Falana, disclosed this during the group’s inaugural meeting, yesterday, in Akure.

Falana, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, said that the group was rooting for the governor “to ensure continuity of his commendable efforts.”

According to her, the women believe in the quality of leadership shown by Aiyedatiwa in the short time he took over the reins of government in the state.

She said that the essence of the meeting was to strategise on how to ensure massive victory for Aiyedatiwa with the help of women across the 18 local councils of the state.
