Paramount ruler, HRM Ogwong Okon A. Abang, of Mbo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom state was abducted from his palace in Ebughu on Saturday night.

The monarch was reportedly taken from his palace in Ebughu around 9 pm on Saturday.

This incident follows the kidnapping of Dr John Robbin Esu, a doctor in the state, which led to the suspension of medical services by doctors in solidarity.

Dr. Esu remains in captivity.

The abduction of the Paramount Ruler of Mbo, similar to Dr. Esu’s kidnapping in Oron LGA, highlights the concerning state of security infrastructure in the region.

In another incident, the wife of Chief Asukwo Eweme Ulap Okon, also known as Levile, a prominent political figure, was abducted in Oron last week.

Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner, Waheed Ayilara, along with other service commanders, were en route to the Ebughu Palace of the victim at the time of filing this report.
