Nigeria’s biggest music award platform, Headies, has officially announced its return for the 15th edition, which is set to begin its nationwide campaign, in Lagos next Tuesday.
Sharing the news via a statement on its official Instagram page, the organisers said, “Get ready for the big announcement. The announcement will hold at The Sky Restaurant, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on March 1, by 1:00 pm. In the meantime, how many celebrity voices can you recognize? Tag them in the order you hear them, to stand a chance to win an exclusive invite to the Big Announcement.”
The Headies, originally called The Hip-Hop World Awards, began in 2006, to recognize and reward talents across Nigeria’s music industry. Broadcast live across the country, on the HipTV Platform, the Headies has helped to spotlight deserving talents, from Wizkid, to Burna Boy, to Davido, Tiwa Savage, among others, from their early breakout stages till date. With its Rookie of The Year category, the award has also been instrumental to the promotion of emerging acts across the country’s vibrant music industry.
The first two editions of the Headies were held at the Muson Center in Lagos, making the country’s entertainment capital the default host city of the awards show. Several A-list media personalities such as Darey Art Alade, D’banj, Tiwa Savage, among others, have been hosts in previous years.
