Hilda Baci cooks to raise funds for widows

Guinness world record holder Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, would be displaying her world-beating culinary skills to raise funds for widows.

Through the initiative of Joseph Edgar, better known as the Duke of Shomolu, the 27-year-old chef will display her mesmerising skills that enamoured the world and saw her emerge as the Guinness World Record Holder.

The initiative which has been running for the last three years and has raised over N10 million for deserving widows involves close friends and associates of The Duke of Shomolu donating cash instead of gifts to mark his birthdays.


The cash gifts are now sent to needing widows who would have been nominated by members of the public.

Last year, N2 million was donated to four widows through the initiative.

This year, N3 million was raised. With the winner of N1m nominated by distinguished banker and director at Keystone Bank, Yemi Odusanya who incidentally shares same birthday with the Duke choosing the winner.

The Duke himself now chose 10 other widows who shared N1m.

The famous and respected Hilda Baci would be cooking at the Ivy Hotel, Emerald in Ikeja GRA for 10 people and the sum of N1m would now be donated to a widow of her choice
