Homegrown basketball, lifewire of Nigeria’s youth development—Mark

Sponsor of Mark D’Ball Basketball Championship, Igoche Mark, has said Nigeria needs to focus more on domestic basketball development to discover more talents from the grassroots, saying it is the life wire of youth development in basketball.

Excited by the success of the ongoing Mark D’Ball Men’s Basketball Championship holding at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, he disclosed plans to replicate the tourney throughout the nation.

Mark disclosed that the new face of basketball in the country, championed by him to give Nigerian youths, who love the dunking game, opportunity to hone their skills in a competitive atmosphere.

“The excitement in me cannot be measured because domestic basketball is back after a long absence. This is due to the movement and campaign of the New Face of Basketball by me.

“All over Nigeria, there are several basketball championships going on. From the North to the South, East to West it is basketball put together to revamp the sport. This is just the beginning as we are determined to start a national league that will be the envy of many when the NBBF presidential crisis is finally resolved,” he said.
