Hoodlums kill police officer, injure another in Ebonyi

Unidentified hoodlums yesterday along Ngbo-Effium Road in Ohaukwu Local Council of the Ebonyi State attacked operatives of the state Police Command on patrol, killing one and seriously injuring another.

Confirming the attack in a statement in Abakaliki, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Command, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said the armed hoodlums used an ash coloured Toyota Sienna with registration number unknown to carry out the operation.

He further stated that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Augustina Ogbodo, immediately dispatched tactical teams of the command to the scene, adding that the team was on the trail of the hoodlums.

While calling on well-meaning residents of the state to avail the Command with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums, the PPRO noted that calm and normalcy have been restored to the area.

He assured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and properties in the state.
