‘How digital transformation can boost SME growth’

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which account for more than 90 per cent of businesses worldwide, face numerous challenges in staying competitive in today’s digital age.

However, Africa’s leading communication platform, Ayoba, has teamed up with a renowned technology firm, Adanian Labs to unlock the potential to transform SMEs operations and boost capacity significantly.

By adopting digital transformation, SMEs could access a wealth of operational data, providing insights that improve decision-making, reduce cost and enhance operational efficiency.

Head of Ecosystem Development, Ayoba, Sheila Yabo, said Ayoba intends to provide a space for entrepreneurs to build and thrive without worry over space, capacity, mentorship and access to partnerships

“We are not an incubation lab, we want to work with people who are great at what they do and we work together towards solving Africa’s biggest challenges, we invite financiers, SME funders who would like to work with us to make sure these startups or businesses are ready to launch. Supporting small businesses fosters economic growth and sustainable development,” she said

According to recent statistics, SMEs account for over 90 per cent of businesses in Africa, contributing approximately 50 per cent of employment and 33 per cent of the continent’s gross domestic product (GDP).

In Nigeria, SMEs represent about 96 per cent of businesses, employing millions of people and serving as engines of innovation and economic progress.

Yabo, said the great potential could revolutionise the economy if properly harnessed.

Also, Country Head, Adanian Labs, Killian Mayua, said Adanian is bringing local knowledge and an understanding of businesses.

“We are present in five markets in Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa, hence partnering with us means you have buyers from five markets. So, we are promoting the Africa dream by providing solutions to African problems from a global perspective,” he said.
