A fellow of the Institute of Productivity and Business Innovation Management (IPBIM), Abidemi Adeyemo, has stated that for Nigeria to bridge the productivity gaps in the workforce, the educational system must emphasise practical skills, critical thinking and adaptability.

Speaking in an interview, she explained that productivity was achieving desired outcomes efficiently, adding that, “it’s about maximising output while minimising wasted effort.”

She stated that Nigeria’s educational system plays a critical role in shaping the country’s workforce, noting that “when education emphasises practical skills, critical thinking and adaptability, it directly contributes to a more productive and innovative workforce.”

Adeyemo, who is a productivity consultant, stated that there was a need for reforms to align curricula with industry needs, advising organisations to invest in employee training, create clear performance metrics and foster a positive work environment to enhance the productivity of their workforce.
