How To Make Beef Pasta Like A Pro

Looking forward to prepping a quick meal that could give you a taste of home while at your place of work? This beef pasta could just be the meal to get you pumped and energetic to tackle your workload.

Pasta, majorly identified as spaghetti in these parts, is a quick meal that is savoury and possesses a bandwidth for versatility. This is why the diced vegetables, beef chunks, and broth that reside in your refrigerator are the perfect ingredients needed for this meal. You can also spice it up to suit your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Chopped veggies of your preference
  • 8 ounces of ground beef or beef strips
  • 2 cups (500g) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 oz (300g) pasta of your choice, such as spaghetti, penne, or fusilli
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Don’t let the pasta be too soft. Set aside about half a cup of the cooked pasta water.
  2. Brown the beef. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or cooked beef stripes and cook, turning it with a spoon, until it is browned and cooked through about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add aromatics. Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is softened. Add the minced garlic and bell peppers, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Season and simmer. Stir in the tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavours to meld together.
  5. Combine pasta and sauce. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the beef sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, you can add some of the reserved cooking water to thin it out and help the sauce cling to it. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
  6. Serve. Once done, remove the skillet from the heat. Serve it hot with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.

Enjoy your beef pasta!
