Congratulations! You made it to the weekend. After what seems like endless days of meeting different deadlines and tolerating your obnoxious boss, you finally get to have two complete days that allow you to take a deep breath, focus on yourself, and relax.

While the weekend might be the perfect time to go out with friends or go on a date with a random stranger who looks just like the Tinder Swindler or Anna Delvey, it is also the perfect opportunity for you to make use of the abandoned oven in your kitchen. Rather than buying items like cakes or cookies, you could decide to put your cooking skills to the test.

What better way to truly test your culinary skills than the delicious appetizer called “Pigs in a blanket?” We know some of you might have zero clue on how to go about preparing this snack, which is why we provided the recipe to guide you.

Ingredients

  • Mini hotdogs
  • Bacon
  • Cheese
  • Salt
  • Seasoning
  • Puff pastry
  • Eggs

Preparation

  1. Roll the sausages in the bacon that has been cut in half lengthwise.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C) and lightly grease a baking sheet with butter or oil.
  3. Lay out the puff pastry and brush it with egg wash.
  4. Cut the dough into 12 squares or triangles.
  5. Sprinkle some cheese on top of each dough square, followed by a sausage wrapped in bacon. Spice things up by adding salt or other seasonings.
  6. Roll in the puff pastry. You could use a knife or fork to create tiny holes in the top of each roll and coat them with more egg wash.
  7. Allow it to bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and the sausages are cooked.
  8. Voila! You are done and are ready to fill your stomach with delicious goodness. Serve it with any beverage of your choice.

Baking is fun. Now cancel those hangout plans, go to the market, put on an apron, and show us what you’ve got.
