In line with goal two of the United Nations – SDGs ‘End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture’, international relief and development agency, and also as a way to help vulnerable Nigerians during the present hard economy, Humanity First (HF) Nigeria, HFN has distributed seedlings to over 3,755 households across 30 locations in order to promote homestead farming, train individuals and families in best practices for homestead agriculture.
The organisation, founded by Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in the UK in 1995 with registered operations in 65 countries and ongoing projects in many more countries has provided succour to over 18,847 vulnerable persons in Nigeria and approximated 14 million people globally.
HFN which recently donated N1million to a rainstorm victim in Ogun State, Mr Olusola Akinleye, has provided free health programmes, dug boreholes, distributed clothes, empowered small-scale businesses, equipped people with skills, and provided food banks among others.
Speaking during a briefing to discuss its upcoming projects and achievements, the Chairman of HFN, Dr Yekini Habeeb, said, “Relieving the suffering caused by natural disasters or human conflict, strengthen people’s capacity to help themselves and promote peace and understanding based upon mutual tolerance and respect is line with HF global objective.
The Ameer of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Alatoye, said that HF welfare support is offered to Muslims and non-Muslims as this is in accordance to the directives of the world head of Ahmadiyya, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, noting that the aim of the organisation is not to change people’s faith but provide succor to humanity.
