I always wanted to be a soldier but entertainment found me – David Osaigbovo

David Osaigbovo is a man of many parts- an actor, content creator, fashion and mascot model as well as a theater art performer. Born April 26, 1997, he hails from Ikooba Oka in Edo State and comes from a family of seven, three brothers and a sister.

Aside from acting and creating content, the budding actor said he enjoys watching football matches and learning music. “Growing up as a young man born into a Christian family was quite challenging. Making the right move and doing what is right all the time due to my family’s standards wasn’t easy but with the right people by my side to guide and put me through made it a lot easier. I wanted to be a soldier when growing up but didn’t follow up that particular dream due to some reasons.”

Recalling that he was a member in his church’s drama crew while growing up, he said he acted in all the church’s programs and that was how the love for acting grew in him. Adding that he started acting professionally around 2019 when he moved to Dubai, he kicked off his career initially by being a fashion and mascot model.

“I was privileged to bag different endorsement deals and participated in top fashion shows. I was involved in various fashion gigs with a couple of top fashion brands and was part of the face of NMC medical center in 2019.”

“Also, that same year, I ventured into theatre acting and was a key performer at The Hollywood theatre Motiongate in Dubai, working with international celebrities and stars. This helped me improve my skills in both the fashion and theatre world in the United Arab Emirates,” he said.

The rising star said he has been privileged to work with top artist Nollywood artists such as Babarex, Wole Ojo, Ruth Kadiri, Etinosa Idemudia, Phyna and Angela Eguavon and has featured in blockbusters such as, ‘Mad Neighbor season 2’, ‘The Foolish Armed Robber,’ ‘Senior Man,’ ‘Trigger,’ ‘Celibate Husband, ‘Commercial Wife’ and many more and acted key roles in all.

“I’ve worked with several movie production companies in Nigeria including Big Things Production, Slize Entertainment, Edo Job and so on.”

Stressing that he is also a content creator, skitmaker and hypeman, he added that he plays the drums and guitar very well. “I enjoy acting, playing musical instruments and video games,” he revealed.

Adding that discipline is his style and watchword, he said he loves getting the job done with great energy.

Describing his fashion style as ‘street urban,’ David said he would never leave home without his phone and watch. “My mother and elder sister are my inspiration and if I wasn’t acting, I would have been in the military because I always wanted to be a soldier while growing up. I would love to be featured in military movies or war movies,” he revealed.

On what gives him joy, he said seeing everyone around him happy makes him happy as well as music, clothes and money.

On how stardom has changed him, he said there are some things he used to do that he can’t do anymore as well as some places he can’t visit again. He attributed this to the fact that many look up to him now as a role model and any place or activity that promotes violence or negativity is a no for him.

On how he overcomes challenges, he revealed that it has not been easy but has continually managed to sail through challenges thrown at him. “I believe every situation is for a while, no matter the challenges or the situation, it is just for for a while.”

“I feel we still have a lot to do in Nollywood in terms of movie production, we need more capable investors to help in creating good movies and stories for the world to see,” he concluded.
