Ibadan compound heads visit Olubadan-designate

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin

Heads of indigenous families in Ibadan, otherwise known as Mogajis, led by Aare Egbe Mogaji, Asimiyu Ariori, yesterday, paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

The visit was in fulfilment of Ibadan’s tradition upon the nomination of the Olubadan-designate. The Mogajis and others representing the five local councils in Ibadan City, continued the age-long tradition of respect and obeisance to the recently-nominated 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan.

In his remarks, Ariori pledged the mogajis’ support to Oba Olakulehin, just as he prayed for sound health and long life for the Olubadan-designate during his reign. He also sought permission for the mogajis to visit the Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, in line with tradition, noting that the same was done to Otun Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, after they visited the 42nd Olubadan, the late Oba Olalekan Balogun upon nomination.

Responding, the Olubadan-designate granted the mogajis their request and appreciated them for the visit. He also prayed that each of the mogajis would fulfill their desires on the path to the Olubadan’s throne.

Younger brother to the Olubadan-designate, Osuolale Owolabi, on behalf of Oba Olakulehin and the Olakulehin family, thanked the mogajis for their pledge of support and obeisance to the recently-nominatedOlubadan of Ibadan.
