Ibadan on edge as Enugu Rangers visit 3SC

The Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu was filled beyond capacity when Rangers took on Enyimba in the NPFL title showdown on June 9, 2024.

Football fans in Ibadan are in for one of the biggest games of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, when old foes 3SC and Enugu Rangers clash today in a top-of-the table game.

It is a week 36 match, which will pit league leaders, Enugu Rangers, against a resurgent 3SC, who are fourth on the log.
3SC have been in buoyant mode since the turn of the season and are now within a touching distance of a first continental campaign in over 15 years.
The Oluyole Warriors have 56 points to Rangers 64, but they are only three points behind second and third-placed Enyimba and Remo Stars, which means that they need to continue winning to have a chance of overtaking any of the teams for either a CAF Champions League ticket or a Confederation right.
The match will air live on StarTimes Beta Sports Channel 244 at 5.30 p.m.

Having won 14 home games, Shooting Stars will be looking to leverage their home advantage and secure a victory that could propel them further up the table.
In other matches involving teams with title ambition, Remo Stars will face relegation-threatened Heartland of Owerri, just as Enyimba will battle Bayelsa United, who are also struggling for survival.
Enyimba need a win to remain on the second position as a loss and Remo Stars’ defeat of Heartland will see the Ikenne boys overtake the Peoples Elephant on the log.
~In other games, Gombe United will host Abia Warriors, Bendel Insurance and Rivers United will clash in Benin, Niger Tornadoes will host Lobi Stars in Kaduna, Kwara United will take on Kano Pillars, while Akwa United and Katsina United will tango in Uyo.
