Ihonvbere, Kumo, Madaki emerges House of Reps principal officers

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abass has announced the appointment of Prof Julius Ihonvbere as the House majority leader.

Ihonvbere who was Minister of Education was an integral member of the Joint Task 10th Assembly which ensured the emergence of Abass as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Other principal officers who were also members of the Joint Task lobby group unveiled by the Speaker on the resumption of the plenary session were Kogi state-born Halims Abdullahi as the deputy majority leader, Usman Kumo from Gombe state as the Chief Whip.

The other principal officers include Kano State-born Ali Madaki who emerged as the deputy minority leader and Mrs Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (Ogun) as the deputy chief whip of the House.

The former chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Mr Kingsley Chinda had earlier been named the minority leader of the lower legislative chamber.
