IIC flags off campaign on new third-party motor rate

The Insurance Industry Committee (IIC), inaugurated by the insurance industry’s players to work on development plans, will today flag off publicity to educate Nigerians on the rationale behind the increment in third-party motor insurance rate from N5,000 to N15,000 by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

This was the fallout of the committee meeting, held in Lagos at the weekend, according to the Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee, Akinjide Orimolade.

Orimolade said the campaign tagged, ‘Small Premium, Big Coverage’ will reposition the nation’s insurance industry with a wide strategic plan that would help the industry to contribute to the growth of the economy.

The campaign is expected to last for three months and will showcase benefits to be enjoyed by policyholders as a result of the review.

Orimolade said the campaign will be covering social media, print, radio jingles and television commercials in English language, pidgin and vernacular.

According to him, the campaign becomes necessary following questions from insurance consumers.

“It is in response to the plethora of questions and inquiries received from our clients that the Insurers Committee through its publicity subcommittee decided to embark on this short but eventful campaign to shed more light on the new rates and generally improve insurance acceptance among the citizens,” he assured.
