Imo gets N1billion grant to alleviate suffering

• Uzodimma urges W’Bank, WTO, ITC to invest in Imo
As part of measures to alleviate hardship, the Federal Government has awarded a conditional grant of N1 billion to Imo State.

Under the grant, 20,000 indigent people will receive N50,000 each.


This was disclosed, yesterday, in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Oby Amadi-Obi.

The statement reads: “Leveraging his cordial working relationship with the Federal Government, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has attracted a N1 billion conditional grant scheme for indigent citizens of the state.

“Twenty thousand indigent citizens of the state will get 50,000 each, as part of efforts by the Federal Government to alleviate the current hardship in the country.

“When the governor talked about connecting the South East to the national grid of politics with the benefits, he was exactly referring to issues like this.


“As of last Monday, some indigenes of the state had started receiving their alert of N50,000 under the presidential conditional grant scheme.”

She urged the people of the state to support the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Meanwhile, Uzodimma has urged the World Trade Organisation (WTO), World Bank and the International Trading Centre (ITC) to come into the state to invest.

The governor made the plea, yesterday, in Abuja, during an economic landscape gathering.

He expressed optimism over the entrepreneurship programmes as a catalyst for sustainable development.
Uzodimma pledged that the state government would provide the enabling environment, improved access to opportunities, improved market access and enhanced capacity building for local entrepreneurs.
