Imo police arrest suspected killers of monarchs, DPO, 10 others

Some criminal suspects arrested over alleged killing of two monarchs, DPO and ten other officers by the Imo State Police Command during their parade at the Command's headquarters, Owerri on Friday

The Imo State Police Command has arrested three suspects allegedly responsible for the murder of traditional rulers of Amumara Ezinihitte Mbaise and Ngwurunweke Aboh Mbaise Local Government Areas of the state Eze J.B. Ochulor and Eze James Mirioma respectively.


The command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, who paraded the suspects on Friday, said their arrests was in line with the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal activities.

The police spokesman gave the names of the suspects, who are all from Aboh Mbaise council of the state, as Olumachi Iheanacho, M, (28) of Amato Umulolo Amuzu, Chisom Samuel, M, (37) and Linus Odoemenam, M (42).


He added that exhibits recovered from the suspects included three pump action guns, 12 rounds of live cartridges and various criminal charms.

Okoye said, “Following the IPOB/ESN terrorists murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Ahiazu Mbaise, SP Magnus Abalu and Inspector Ikechukwu Nwanchor on 27/11/2023, the earlier killing of the two Traditional Rulers in Amumara Ezinihitte Mbaise and Ngwurunweke Aboh Mbaise Local Government Areas of Imo State; HRH Eze J.B. Ochulor and HRH Eze James Mirioma, murder of five Police Officers attached to Oke-Uvuru Police Division at Okpala Junction, Ngor-Okpala L.G.A, murder of three personnel of Police Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at Imo River


Nipping Point at Ngor/Okpala L.G.A., murder of a woman Police Sergeant attached to Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Stop and Search along Aba/Owerri Road in Ngor-Okpala L.G.A, and murder of Police Constabulary in front of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Council office.

“After dislodging the terrorists’ camp at Umuogu Amuzu in Aboh Mbaise L.GA. Imo State and smashing of IPOB/ESN terrorists commander – PRINCE JERRY AKA “ICHAKA” on 07/12/2023, others flee to different unknown locations, wherein intelligent trafficking commenced and the abovementioned suspects were arrested and exhibits recovered.`
