In boss, Buike speaks on self confidence

BuikeMulti-talented Nigerian artist, Chibuike Obi, with the stage name, Buike, in his new single ‘Boss’ speaks about having self confidence.

The song is an upbeat and catchy release that features a blend of Afrobeats and dancehall elements. A part of the lyrics says, ‘No dey call me boss…. you sef na boss’.


Since the new single was made available to the public, it has been trending on all social media platforms. Hid other songs includes; My baby, Nwannem, Wetin go be go be and others.

Buike, a singer, rapper, songwriter and influencer, who is working on fully pursuing his music career said, “I started off as an indigenous rapper in 2017 in Anambra state, my first freestyle on Facebook went viral and I suddenly became famous, but because I needed finance to pursue my passion, I learnt interior design mechanical engineering skills, and other side hustles to get money to record songs for my viewers and subscribers.

Recounting his challenges before getting to this stage, he said, “I was later invited over by a man from the same village as me, who acted like he wanted to help me, but made me his house help in Enugu. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was not allowed to go for shows, but to help out in a building construction site.

“After the house was completed, the man sent me out of his house with N10,000 and I started sleeping outside from house to house till I managed to squat with a friend of mine.

“I continued pushing, went to the farm to help my mum, sometimes i would go to the village to help my grandma , while i still kept on dropping more freestyles and releasing nice songs consistently. I managed to save up money I got from fans and supporters to open a boutique for myself where I sell male clothing and other accessories and things started becoming better.”
