Initiative offers N100m to 15 distressed children

Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care (GIPCL) has offered financial aid worth N100 million to 15 children with various critical health challenges to assist them foot surgery bills.

Director General and National Coordinator of GIPLC, Nuhu Kwajafa, while disbursing the funds, yesterday, in Abuja, said the initiative is for the poor and vulnerable in the society, who are unable to access healthcare due to financial incapacitation.

He said an equivalent of $160,000 was raised during a birthday/charity dinner in Paris, France, for GIPLC Grand Patron, Igho Charles-Sanomi, recently, which added up to the sum disbursed.

“If every Nigerian should do the right thing, this will go a long way. So many Nigerian children are dying every day.

“My driving force is the smile on the faces of recipients, their saying ‘thank you’ or seeing their faces after a successful surgery. Just like today, the beneficiaries, who had previously benefitted and are doing well, is motivation for me,” he said.

Kwajafa said, though some donor agencies support vulnerable children in various ways, they rarely take the responsibility of medical bills for ailing children with critical health conditions.

He, therefore, appealed to the government and public-spirited individuals to continue to support the health and wellbeing of children, especially the vulnerable.
