Institute canvasses professionalism to boost career, treasury

President, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN), Sikiru Balogun, has urged professionalism to boost career and public treasury.

In a statement, ahead of the 2023 Batch ‘A’ Mandatory Proficiency Development Programme, yesterday, Balogun said the move would promote higher employee retention and build required skill sets.

According to him, the world of work is becoming increasingly competitive and dynamic, so professional development and continual learning are more important than ever in being successful.

He said: “Technologies and best practices are evolving and progressing in every industry, making it crucial for both new and experienced professionals to continue developing their skills and honing their knowledge.

“It will interest you to know that supply management started as a clerical job, but evolved into mechanical, proactive and world class job, which involves strategic sourcing, monitoring of supply environment, as well as developing and implementing a commodity team.”

He noted that professional development has gained significant traction among supply chain professionals, with many recognising its value in career growth.

Registrar, M. J. Aliyu, charged professionals to maintain maximum standard of procurement and supply chain management practice in Nigeria.

He stressed professionalism to identify and plug loopholes in pubic treasury.
