Institute moves to improve service delivery with new regional office

The 59th president of ICAN, Dr. Innocent Okwuosa

For improved service delivery, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has begun the construction of its Southeast regional office in Enugu State.

Speaking at the groundbreaking of the project, the President of ICAN, Dr Innocent Okwuosa, emphasised the crucial role zonal offices play in decentralising the institute’s operations, ensuring better regional representation, support and engagement for members and students across Nigeria.

He said the establishment of the Southeast zonal office signifies a strategic move to effectively serve the needs of the institute’s members and the public in the region.

Okwuosa disclosed that the office would house advanced facilities for ICAN members in the South-East, provide a venue for zonal conferences, district meetings, networking and promote awareness of the ICAN brand.

He explained that the structure would also facilitate an enabling environment for intellectual interactions and socialisation.

“The building’s library would offer ICAN students in the district access to preparatory materials and it would serve as the ICAN Examination Centre, reducing the expenses associated with hiring venues for the institute’s professional examinations,” he said.

He further challenged the Enugu and District Chairman, executives and members to demonstrate the value of the substantial investment by positioning ICAN as the premier professional body for both qualified and aspiring Chartered Accountants in the region.

The lCAN President encouraged the district to establish Enugu as a centre for the institute’s Accounting Technician Scheme Examinations and expressed confidence that the Southeast regional office would enhance the institute’s impact, fostering growth and excellence in the accounting profession in the region.

Okwuosa solicited collective efforts to make the vision for the new office a reality, affirming that together, they could elevate ICAN’s standing and influence in the Southeast.
