Inter Milan is keen on signing Nigerian international goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye from Udinese during the summer transfer window.

This was disclosed by Gianluca Di Marzio as quoted by Germany-based Nigerian sports reporter, Omavua Akatugba.

According to Di Marzio, Inter has been monitoring Okoye whose performances were highly instrumental in Udinese remaining in the Serie A.

“Inter Milan is seriously looking at Maduka Okoye as a backup to their first-choice goalkeeper, Yann Sommer,” Akatugba quoted Di Marzio as saying.

“The 2023/24 Serie A champions have been watching Okoye very closely and they want to get him as quickly as possible.”

The Super Eagles goalkeeper who joined Udinese from Watford in the summer of 2023 did very well to ensure that the Italian club did not suffer relegation.

As a result of his heroics between the posts for Udinese, Inter who won last season’s Serie A title are reportedly considering the idea of signing Okoye.

The shot-stopper, meanwhile, finally joined the Super Eagles camp in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State late Wednesday night.

Okoye is making a return to the national team following a break which also saw him miss the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

He committed an error which led to Nigeria’s elimination from the 2021 AFCON after losing 1-0 to Tunisia in the round of 16 and has not been able to stage a successful return to the squad since but he has improved.

The former Sparta Rotterdam of Holland keeper was called up by coach Finidi George for the Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
