Introduction: Marvel

Pastor Lawrence Achudume

Let me begin with a 1908 quote of Nunnie Louise Haskins; as we get set for the dawn of a New Year. “I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year, give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.” And he replied: “Go into the darkness and put your hands into the hands of God, that shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way” 1908 Nunnie Louise Haskins.

The purpose of this book in your hands is to put your hands into the hands of God, to help you chart a better course as you connect to God and dot the ‘I’s’ and cross the ‘t’s’ in our covenant walk with God. Like every of our books, it is a part of a whole more, but this will no doubt take you further into a covenant life fulfillment of your prophetic destiny in God.
“And he said, behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the Lord: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee,” Exodus 34:10.

Marvel means to be filled with wonder or astonishment. It is a state of being astonished by an act or occurrence. In most cases a marvellous thing comes with a surprise. It is not a thing planned or prepared for. And at other times, it is something that has not been done or seen before. It is in the nature of God to do wonders and as a matter of fact, one of those things that distinguish God from man is His ability to do wonders.

To put in perspective, wonder is who God is and it is not God if it is not marvellous, that is, if you see anything either in your life or in the life of others and it does not marvel you, then it is human or ordinary.
This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? (Mark 12:11)
This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. (Psalms 118:23)
If it is the Lord’s doing, it must be marvellous. This is why Moses declared: “Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? (Exodus 15:11).

The nature of God is all about doing wonders and anything less than wonder cannot be Him. He does wonders and marvellous things in the life of His people so that the world can glorify Him. He takes pleasure in doing marvellous things and He never runs out of it.

As believers, we already have and enjoy one of His wonders when we give our lives to Christ and then take up a new life in Him. This is nothing, but a wonder that can only be performed by God. It is still a wonder to unbelievers how we can just wake up one day and say God is our father. But beyond this, God desires to do even more wondrous things in our lives. Things that will make people to marvel at Him through us, things that have never been done by anyone or any god(s).

However, you have a part to play if you really want God to showcase Himself through you or to experience and enjoy the marvellous nature of God.
