Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members, living in Ontario Canada stormed Parliament Hill Ottawa protested for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
The protesters amongst other things are protesting the “unlawful arrest, detention and dehumanization of her leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu” and called for his unconditional release.
The protesters are asking that their leader be released unconditionally and that the Nigerian Government should stop the alleged marginalization and killings of Igbos in Nigeria, and declare IPOB a non-violent and peaceful movement group.
One Peter Kingsley Onu said IPOB is a “peaceful movement group, agitating that the President Buhari-led Federal Government of Nigeria stops the brutal killings and dehumanization of Igbos in Nigeria.”
Another protester EmekaLaurel Chime said Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is being arrested and dehumanized for no justifiable reason. He said, “IPOB are peaceful people, they neither carry guns, matchet or any dangerous weapons, because they believe in dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflict, compared to Boko-haram, Bandit that was very deadly.”
Emma ChigboAwa said Kanu’s continuing detention is totally unacceptable, absurd, null, and void. He stated further that the President Buhari-led Federal Government should stop marginalizing the Igbos, and above all, should respect the Constitution and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Fundamental Rights.
Mr. AnikeGideon Okechukwu said “our crime as IPOB members/Nigerians-Igbos is because we have refused to be marginalized by the President Buhari-led Federal Government and the Northerners.
According to him, the continuing detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is against her leader’s Fundamental Rights, as spelt out by the Nigeria Constitution, the African and Human Rights Charter, and the United Nations Fundamental Rights. According to him, the Nigeria Government is deliberately holding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu captive, “because they are afraid MNK’s continuing push and agitation will eventually give way for a Referendum in Nigeria, that will see to Igbos going their separate ways and breaking out of Nigeria.”
Okechukwu, is calling all the United Nations, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Isreal, Russia, and World Power Countries to step in and press the Nigeria Government to release its leader.
