IWD: Batta Kingdom monarch advances gender inclusivity, decries hardship

Monarch of Batta Kingdom of Demsa Local Government Area, Adamawa State, His Royal Majesty, Humon Alhamamdu-Teneke has thrown his weight behind the global advocacy for gender inclusion for accelerated development at all levels.

Also known as Diyoshifato Tikulo Batta, the traditional leader while identifying and showing solidarity with women all over the world on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, (IWD), said gender inclusion remains the pillar for nation building.


Paying tribute to women in Batta Kingdom and all across the globe, he said “women constitute critical mass of the nation’s population and applauded their unmeasurable contributions to the promotion of peaceful coexistence, enhancing family values and economic development.”

In a statement by spokesperson of the kingdom, Chief Ladi Bala, he praise women for their strength, resilience and enormous contributions to nation building.

“The Royal father used the occasion of the International Women’s Day to appeal to sons and daughters as well as traditional title holders of Batta Kingdom to in the interest of societal transformation and development, invest in women in the areas of education and entrepreneur venture.

“He particularly lamented the number of out of school children especially girls in the country describing it as worrisome and call for proactive steps to tackle it.
He says; “The issue around education should be tackled by all as a corporate responsibility to humanity not government alone.

“His royal Highnesses also “Noted with concern the current hardship and economic challenges facing Nigeria and Nigerians, adding that it required input and support of all and sundry to overcome them.

“He tasked youths, men and women to embrace farming and other agricultural activities to engender economic value addition and to serve as source of income thereby increasing their purchasing power and food security,” the statement contains.
