IWD: Edo ministry fetes Urhoghide-Edigin, other women for leadership roles resilience


Dr Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin who is the Medical Director Edo state hospitals management agency government Hospital Egba has been celebrated on international women’s day by the ministry of health Edo State alongside nine other women.


The State ministry of Health as part of activities to commemorate the 2024 IWD showered praises on 10 women for their leadership roles within the health ministry.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Samuel Alli said in a statement made available to newsmen by the ministry, “On this International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Health proudly celebrates the remarkable women in leadership roles within our ministry. Their resilience, intelligence, and compassion set a standard of excellence, showcasing the undeniable value of female leadership in healthcare.

“Under the stewardship of our Honourable Commissioner of Health – Dr Samuel Alli, a fervent advocate for women’s empowerment, the Ministry has consistently championed the cause of women. We are deeply committed to fostering an environment where women’s contributions are recognized and their leadership potential is nurtured. Our policies and initiatives reflect a steadfast dedication to gender equality and women’s empowerment, embodying this year’s campaign themes: “Inspire Inclusion” and “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.”


“The women of our health sector have distinguished themselves as beacons of excellence and innovation. They have demonstrated unparalleled efficiency and have made significant impacts in every capacity they serve. Whether it’s in clinical roles, research, policy development, or administrative positions, their contributions are instrumental in shaping a healthier future for all.
