Jimoh Ibrahim rejects APC’s reconciliation move, insists on court’s decision

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim

The senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Jimoh Ibrahim, has vowed to pursue the ongoing legal tussle over the outcome of the April 20, 2024 primary election to the Supreme Court.

Ibrahim, who shunned the reconciliation move by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reconcile the aggrieved aspirants of the party with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, maintained that the party should allow the court to decide on the matter.

The peace committee of the party visited Ibrahim, at the weekend, to persuade him to drop his litigation against the emergence of Aiyedatiwa as the candidate of the party, but in a WhatsApp post on Liberal Platform, Ibrahim said he wanted the Supreme Court to decide the outcome of the primary election and not the election conducted by Kogi State Governor, Ododo. He said: “Femi Agagu, Victor Olabimtan, Ade Adetimehin, Sunday Abegunde (Abena), and Festus Aregbesola got to my Asokoro residence at 6.00 p.m. and left at 11.00 p.m. begging.

“I told them to go in peace and allow the Supreme Court to decide the case since they had no good roadmap for reconciliation.” Following the outcome of the primary election, the leadership of the party had set up a committee to reconcile the aggrieved aspirants.

While some aspirants have dropped their ambition and agreed to support Aiyedatiwa’s election, others have insisted on seeking redress in the court or seeking election on the platform of another political party.

The aspirants that have accepted the decision of the party included Morayo Lebi, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, Dr Soji Ehinlanwo, Diran Iyantan, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Dr Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo and Jimi Odimayo. They, however, urged all members of the party to embrace peace for a resounding victory in the polls.
