Daniel, GFF launch food security initiative in Ogun

In support of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel and the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) have launched a food security and humanitarian funding initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable households across Ogun East Senatorial District.

Unveiled in Ijebu North East Local Government Area, the 2025–2030 initiative seeks to cushion the effects of economic hardship, particularly in the wake of subsidy removal and rising living costs. The pilot phase is being implemented in four local government areas, with plans to scale it across all nine councils in the district.

Speaking at the launch, Senator Daniel reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development and equitable access to federal palliatives. He emphasised the importance of technology, partnerships, and transparency in achieving the programme’s goals.

A key component of the initiative is the GFF Loyalty ATM Card, a digital platform designed to deliver emergency and recurring support for mothers, children, widows, and low-income families. Integrated into Nigeria’s commercial banking system, the card enables verified GFF members and volunteers to access funds for food, medication, and other essentials.

“The GFF Loyalty Card represents our long-standing philosophy of being our brother’s keeper,” said Daniel, highlighting the humanitarian ethos behind the project.

Founded in 2000, the GFF has led several development efforts across Ogun State and the South-West, spanning healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and capacity building.

To ensure accountability, the foundation has partnered with a commercial bank and tech consultants to deploy an automated fund disbursement system. Local representatives at ward and LGA levels have also been trained to assist beneficiaries with registration and access.

Daniel called on Nigerians to embrace a culture of service and cooperation, adding that with continued public-private collaboration, the goal of a more resilient and inclusive society remains achievable.
