Edo 2024: AAC Governorship candidate promises 300,000 jobs if elected

Mr. Udoh Oberaifo, the Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the Sept. 21, Governorship election in Edo, has promised to create over 300,000 jobs for Edo people if elected governor.

Oberaifo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Friday in Benin, that the jobs would be created through a project tagged: digital Edo program.

“Our Digital Edo program will create digital hubs across Edo, creating 300,000 local jobs and reduce the mass exodus of youths abroad.

“We are also going to embark on a massive industrial revolution plan that would revitalize industries, expand manufacturing, and improve technology in the state,” he said.

Oberaifo, who also promised to pay civil servants in the state a N150,000 minimum wage, said that N70,000 could not buy a bag of rice and would not sustain the worker.

The governorship hopeful also promised to implement effective fiscal and monetary policies that would revamp the economy and increase the state’s internally generated revenue to pay the minimum wage.

“Economic empowerment and massive MSME growth are also crucial. Green Edo, climate emergency, and Eco-social justice will build sustainable communities.

“Good agriculture and food production policy will generate billions and create jobs in the state,” he stated.

The governorship candidate, however, faulted Gov. Godwin Obaseki’s ‘operation feed the hungry’ through churches and mosques program, because it underscored a holistic poverty reduction approach.

Oberaifo called on Edo youth to rally support for the AAC party to fix Edo and Nigeria.
