Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) is partnering with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to achieve its vision of helping young people shape their economic future.

The two organisations have kicked off the partnership with a joint celebration of the 2023 Global Money Week (GMW).

GMW is a yearly global awareness-raising initiative that emphasises the importance of ensuring that young people are financially conscious and access information and skills needed to make sound financial decisions.

With the theme ‘plan your money, plant your future’, JAN said its partnership with CBN became necessary to engage young people with activities such as financial literacy rallies, financial literacy fairs, Nigerian Stock Exchange tours and an essay competition.

The firm’s Deputy Manager, Marketing and Communications, Samuel Arowosafe, said the partnership would boost young people’s access to quality financial education.

“This partnership ensures that the ultimate goal of Global Money Week, which is to make all children and youth have access to high-quality financial education, learn about money matters, and can make smart financial decisions that can improve their future and ensure their financial well-being, are achieved.”

Commenting on this year’s celebration, the Executive Director, Junior Achievement Nigeria, Foluso Gbadamosi, stated: “At the heart of what we do at JAN is financial literacy and we are committed to ensuring young people are equipped with skills necessary for financial success. It is important to educate young people and provide them with the skills and resources needed to improve their financial management abilities and set them on the right path to financial independence.

“We are focused on creating a financially literate generation; that is why we are working with CBN to celebrate Global Money Week by teaching our students using the financial literacy modules created by JA Nigeria.

“We appreciate the Central Bank of Nigeria for partnering with us and supporting us in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 4 – zero poverty and quality education.”
