The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas, has called on security agencies to arrest former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, stating that the latter has been a longtime security threat to Kano and the nation.
Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria’s People Party (NNPP), accused the APC-led federal government of attempting to create a new breed of Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents in Northern Nigeria.
He also alleged that certain individuals in the APC fold were goading the federal government with the goal of reclaiming Kano State through a declaration of a state of emergency.
Meanwhile, Abbas, reacting to Kwankwaso’s allegation, demanded Kwankwaso’s arrest, adding that the NNPP stalwart must reveal the identities of those he accused of working with the federal government to recruit terrorists.
Abbas alleged that Kwankwaso’s NNPP aims to foment trouble in Kano, stressing that Kwankwaso has a history of recruiting youth to unleash terror in the state.
“We want to call on security agents in the strongest terms to arrest this man so that he reveals the identity of those he referred to as enemies of the state working for the federal government to recruit Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents’’ Abbas said.
He alleged that “Kwankwaso for a long time, has been a security threat to Kano and the nation in view of his antecedents. He runs a movement in which he has been widely accused of recruiting youth, mostly school dropouts, to unleash terror on the people in the state.”
The APC chairman also accused Kwankwaso of turning the Emir’s palace into a hub for weapon-brandishing thugs who have been recruited, where all sorts of illicit substances are openly being sold, posing a threat to residents within and around.
Abbas, however, noted that no threat from Kwankwaso could intimidate the federal government.
