Kano gov rejoices with Dangote at 67, mourns Kannywood star, Daso

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has rejoiced with Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on his 67th anniversary. He also extended his condolences to the Gidado family and members of the Hausa film industry, Kannywood, following the demise of actress, Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso.
 
Yusuf described Dangote as an illustrious son of Kano, whose philanthropy gives life and hope to millions of households in Nigeria and Africa.  In a statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sanusi Tofa, the governor maintained that Dangote remained a backbone of the nation’s economy and critical to the development of Africa.  Daso passed in the early hours of Tuesday at her residence in Kano.
 
The governor remarked that most of her cinematic works exemplified values of discipline, tenacity and ethical standards essential for social and national advancement.
 
He urged all stakeholders in the Hausa film industry to emulate the late Gidado’s virtues of fostering national unity and advocating religious and cultural harmony to promote peace and tranquility in Kano, Northern Nigeria and beyond.
