Kanye West adds Lagos to 2024 tour shortlist, set to release new album, vultures

With the three installments of his new album, Vultures, in collaboration with TY Dolla $ign set to be released in the coming weeks and the first yesterday, Friday, February 9, American hip-hop heavyweight and fashion designer, Kanye Omari West well known as Kanye West has included Nigeria, Kenya and Egypt among possible countries he would be touring in 2024 and 2025 for his Vultures world tour.


The 24-time Grammy winner made the announcement via his micro-blogging platform, Instagram handle, on Wednesday, February 7. The screenshot outlined suggested tour dates on Eko Energy City in Lagos, Nigeria for December 14, 2024 and Nyayo International Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya for December 7.

According to the rapper, songwriter, and record producer, the tour will start in Toronto, Canada on June 22, and continue across the United States of America until August, when it will move to Mexico.

The possibility of GOOD Music label chief performing in Lagos has excited fans who are eager to see one of the most decorated and best-selling rappers of all time perform in the Afrobeats capital. Should he make a stop in Lagos as part of his 2024 tour, it would be the second time he has performed in Lagos, as he was part of the international artistes’ lineup at the 2007 Mega Star Jam powered by Nigeria Breweries Plc.

Recall that the entertainment mogul had previously interacted with Nigerian music, with Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known as D’Banj, signed his GOOD Music label in 2011 before going on to appear on the Scape Goat remix. In 2021, he described Wizkid’s Essence as the greatest song in the history of music.
