Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has approved an extensive urban renewal project with a budget of N74.5 billion.

The government said the projects, unveiled during the inaugural executive council meeting of 2024, are designed to revitalise Katsina city and enhance the overall well-being of its residents.

The state government, in a statement on Monday, stated that the project, awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited, encompasses nine major road projects and boasts a 24-month completion timeline.

“The Contract for Katsina State Urban Renewal Project (9 No. Projects) to CCECC Nigeria Limited at negotiable total cost of N74,549,429,590.00 (profit margin and taxes inclusive with a completion period of 24 months),” the government said.

The focal point of the project revolves around the construction of the Katsina Eastern Bypass Road (Dutsinma Road – KanoRoad – Mani Road – Daura Road – Yandaki), the extension of dual carriageways from Airport Junction to the proposed Bypass (along Daura Road), and the extension of dual carriageways from Barhim Estate to the proposed Bypass (along Mani Road).

The plan also includes the dualization of several existing roads, including the Central Mosque-Kofar Marusa-WTC Roundabout, Yandaki-Shinkafi-Kofar Sauri, and Water Board Roundabout Kofar Sauri Road-Central Mosque.

Other dualizations of existing roads include Rafindadi-KTSTA Roundabout-Batsari Road Roundabout, Central Police Station CPS-Kofar ‘Yandaka, and Behind CPS to Kofar Kaura Underpass.

The government also highlighted the immediate commencement of construction works for two pivotal projects, the dualisation of the Central Mosque-Kofar Marusa-WTC Roundabout and the construction of the Katsina Eastern Bypass Road (Dutsinma Road – KanoRoad – Mani Road – Daura Road – Yandaki).
