Kidnappers did not invade River Park Estate, says management

Residents of River Park Estate have debunked news of a kidnapping incident in the high-brow community in Lugbe, Abuja.

News had gone viral that dreaded kidnappers invaded the estate, abducting residents.

The estate management which responded swiftly noted that it was total falsehood.

According to a notice to the residents, “This is to bring to the attention of all Residents that the information going around that there is a kidnapping incident within the estate is false.

“We only have an incident of a man from games village who made attempt to dupe his brother who lives within the Estate under the guise that he was kidnapped. Currently, he is under investigation as he has been arrested.

“Infact, his brother one Mr. Henry Davidson was the one who directed them to come to River Park to collect the money with the aim that our security would apprehend them. And truly, they were apprehended once they got around the Estate.”

Speaking on the fake news, spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh said: “The FCT police Command is aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park estate in the early hours of today and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate.

“One Nnandi Agu of Games Village only faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said Estate.

“The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.

While investigation is still ongoing, further developmentd would be communicated to the public.”
