Kidnapping: Nasarawa under siege by criminal elements, Ombugadu cries out

• Appeals for deployment of more security operatives

The 2023 Peoples Democratic party (PDP) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Emmanuel David Ombugadu, has raised the alarm over worsening insecurity in the state.

Ombugadu disclosed this in a statement in reaction to kidnappings and killings making headlines in national dailies. He described the spate of kidnappings, robberies and vehicle snatching as worrisome and unacceptable.

“The incessant kidnapping, killing of high-profile citizens of the state must not be allowed to persist in peaceful place like Nasarawa.

“Citizens residing in Nasarawa State deserve adequate protection as they go about their legitimate businesses, but what is happening in the state right now is sad.

“The activities of these criminals are adversely affecting growth of the state. Residents now live in pepetual fear as the criminals operate in broad day light. The headquarters of security operatives are no longer safe but have become targets of attack by these criminal elements,” he said.

Ombugadu urged Governor Abdullahi Sule to provide security to residents, saying that is his responsibility as governor. He advised the state government to wake up to its responsibility of securing the state, stressing that citizens did not bargain for current happenings, and that such incidences must not be allowed to continue. He called on President Bola Tinubu to deploy more security operatives to help tame the surge in criminality in the state.
