Tobi Bakre

Step into the world of Knorr’s ‘Eativists’ as we embark on a captivating interview with Tobi Bakre, a charismatic actor and influential figure dedicated to promoting healthy eating habits. In this interview, we explore his journey as a Knorr Eativist, his strategies for balancing a demanding career with healthy living, gaining a glimpse into his passion for influencing both the entertainment industry and the general approach to savoring life through food.

You are now the dad of two kids; how have you been adjusting to your new reality, and what has been your biggest adjustment?

Tobi Bakre: It’s been a totally wholesome experience. I hadn’t gotten over being the father of one, and here I am with baby number two. Children give this joy that is so pure and unmatched. The work it takes to watch after them, care for them, and provide for them is tasking and rewarding at the same time. You see their first smile, first walk, first words and so on. It is reawakening the inner child in me. The biggest adjustment so far is the loads of responsibility that comes with the kids. They are at the centre of every decision. They are still so young and so dependent on us parents for everything. From bathing to feeding to clothing!

Everything is riding on you. It’s very challenging, but it’s what we signed up for, and we are so loving the journey of caring for them and watching them grow.

As a Knorr Eativist, could you share the practical changes you’ve incorporated into your diet and lifestyle, emphasizing the significance of leading by example?

Tobi Bakre: As I grow older, my body and metabolism have changed over the years. I turned to eating about once a day, which isn’t necessarily healthy. I also started to lack some vitamins, such as iron, and I knew for sure something had to change.

The big change to tackle all of this was to explore more food options away from the traditional rice, beans and co. I started to explore more local and continental delicacies with a proper infusion of veggies. Now I eat veggies with everything. Salads, soups, and co while regulating my carb intake. As fitfam, we always have to stay in shape right. This has, in turn, changed the way we eat at home. We always eat together and eat the same thing. So, my change pretty much changed our food culture in the house. Mummy MK is always ready for a challenge with a new dish. She has a record of no bad meals, even if it’s something we are trying for the first time.

How do you plan to use your platform to inspire others to join the Eativist movement and consciously make healthy food choices?

Tobi Bakre: With most of what I do, I like to show evidence. People look at me and already see the evidence. How healthy I look while keeping shape and still being able to eat different types of meals.

I will do more content around things I eat and the prep process to open people’s minds to new dishes and healthier ways to eat without compromising the foods they love. We show evidence, and then we explain.
