Chieftains in Lagos Labour Party (LP) have declared their support for the re-election bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, citing experience and credibility.

The Senatorial Candidate of LP, Moshood Salvador, who led the endorsement on Thursday, said that the step was necessary to rescue the state from opportunists, adding that the candidate of the party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is not qualified to be the state governor.

The Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat and the Lagos Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi, among other APC members were present at the event.

Also present were the former Lagos State Chairman of LP, Kayode Salako, who was represented by the LP Lagos State House of Assembly candidate, Oyindolapo Elizabeth; LP Lagos State Coordinator, contact and grassroots mobilisation team and DG LP campaign council, Opeyemi Taiwo as well as the House of Representatives candidate, Ikorodu, Abimbola Animasahun, among others.

Salvador noted that part of the vision of the Presidential Candidate of LP, Peter Obi is to have people who are competent, character and capacity in political offices, saying that it was for this reason that he decided to pitch his tent with Sanwo-Olu for Saturday’s election.

He said he wasn’t going to leave the LP because he believes in the vision of the party, but he encouraged his supporters to vote for Sanwo-Olu, arguing that it would make the state to forge ahead.
