Ladoja may ask Olubadan-in-Council to ratify Olakulehin’s nomination on Thursday

Former governor of Oyo State, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja, has concluded arrangement to summon the meeting of Olubadan-in-Council on Thursday, to nominate the Olubadan designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.


This new development came after the meeting that was convened by the leadership of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) in conjunction with the elders held at Ikolaba residence of Chief Bode Amao, yesterday.

Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, which the media was not allowed to attend, CCII president, Niyi Ajewole, said the issues surrounding the enthronement of the new monarch and the reported lingering crisis among the kingmakers, have been finally settled.

He disclosed that the aggrieved kingmakers have agreed to put the past behind and work together as one for the common interest of Ibadanland.


The meeting was attended by all the kingmakers except Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and Ekerin Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Hamidu Ajibade Salaudeen.

He said, “The fifth columnist has been put to shame as we have resolved all the issues surrounding the enthronement of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

The CCII conveyed the meeting which had in attendance all the kingmakers except the two of them, notable elders of the land, present and past leaders of the CCII.

“All things have been resolved. There is now peace and harmony among the kingmakers. The Olubadan in Council is now one. God has put the fifth columnists to shame.”


In attendance at the meeting we’re: the Asiwaju of Ibadan, Chief Bode Amao, Prelate Ola Makinde, the past and president general of CCII,, Chief Y.K.Akande, Chief Bayo Oyero, Chief Wale Akinwande, Chief Soladoye and host of others.

Ajiwole noted that they used an internal dispute mechanism to resolve disputes in Ibadanland.

The meeting to be conveyed by High Chief Ladoja is in accordance with the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration.

In another interaction, Oloye Lekan Alabi, Maaye of Ibadan Land also assured the citizens of Ibadan that the issue has been resolved and that Olakulehin would be crowned as the next Olubadan.
