Lagbaja promises synergy with other agencies to deal with insecurity

• Makinde lauds Army for stable security in Oyo

Chief of Army Staff (CAS), Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, yesterday, reiterated his readiness to work in synergy with other security agencies to ensure peace and stability in the country.


Lagbaja stated this during a courtesy visit to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in his office at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, in celebration of the 160th anniversary of the Nigerian Army (NA).

The CAS promised to use his philosophy of command to transform the Army towards achieving its responsibility in a joint environment. In his address, Makinde reassured the CAS of the state’s commitment to ensure cordial relationship between the government and the Army.

He further encouraged the leadership of the NA to engage its personnel and be focused on surmounting challenges. He said the cooperation of the Army with the state government and people of the state is responsible for the stable security being enjoyed in the state.

The governor lauded the Army for upholding professionalism, especially during national assignments, stating that his government would continue to maintain a cordial relationship with the Army.


IN another development, the Commander, 16th Brigade of the Nigerian Army/Sector 2 of Operation Delta Safe, Brig.-Gen. Sadisu Yakasai, has urged students of Government Science and Technical College, Swali, to shun cultism, drug abuse and take their studies seriously.

Yakasai gave the advice, yesterday, during the donation of books and jerseys to the school and a public engagement for selected secondary schools to commemorate this year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration.

The commander urged the students to work hard and read their books to pass their examinations, warning that if they indulge in drugs, their lives would end miserably.

He said he equally graduated from a technical school before proceeding to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). Yakasai, who urged the students to see the Nigerian Army as their own and endeavour to join, may be after their secondary school or proceed to the NDA after their first degree.

On his part, Principal of the College, Pedro Igbudu, commended the Brigade for choosing the school for the talk show, and also donating books and jersey for the students. He said the day’s event had changed his perception about the Nigerian Army.
