Lagos court remands artisan for defiling 11-year-old girl

An Ogudu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State, yesterday, remanded a 39-year-old man, Prosper Ebhoze, at a correctional centre for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.

Ebhoze, who resides at No 14, Oke-Owo, Off Oka-Omo Street, Alapere- Ketu, Lagos, was charged with defilement.


The Chief Magistrate, M. O. Tanimola, who did not take the plea of Ebhoze, adjourned the case till March 13, for legal advice from the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Inspector Donjour Perezi, told the court that Ebhoze committed the offence at about 12:00 pm at Oja-Omo Street. Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.

The girl, the police said, was sent home from school to get some items.

He said the minor went to her father’s shop to inform him, unfortunately she didn’t find him in his workshop, but she saw the defendant who is her father’s apprentice.

“He took her to a corner, covered her mouth and defiled her. He also threatened to kill her,” Perezi said.

The prosecution said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
