Lagos deputy police commissioner allegedly commits suicide

The late Lagos Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gbolahan Oyedemi

A Deputy Commissioner of Police serving with the Force Criminal and Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos State, Gbolahan Oyedemi, reportedly committed suicide on Monday, 1 April 2024.

It was gathered that Oyedemi committed suicide inside his house in Ogbomoso, his hometown in Oyo State.

The body of the 50-year-old Police officer was reportedly found alone in his house.

Oyedemi was the Aide de Camp to the late former Governor Oyo state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, during his 11-month tenure as defacto governor in 2006.


He was a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Ilupeju and Area Commander at Ajah in Lagos.

He served as Personal Assistant to two Lagos State Commissioners of Police, the late CP Young Arebamen and the late DIG Israel Ajao.

He was a graduate of the University of Lagos and the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
