The executive committee of UrbanPrime2 Estate in Ogombo, Ajah, Lagos, has come under fire for allegedly failing to settle utility bills, leading to a distressing water cutoff for residents.

The situation has escalated as allegations surface that the exco is attempting to use media leverage to oust the estate developer in a power struggle over estate service management.

Some residents who spoke with The Guardian said that the water supply to the estate was abruptly suspended, causing significant inconvenience to them. They alleged that the suspension was due to the exco’s negligence in paying the requisite utility bills on time.

Attempts by The Guardian to speak with any member of the executive committee of UrbanPrime2 Estate proved abortive as of the time of filing this report, but the developer, LandWey Investment Limited, has expressed dismay over the purported actions of the excos to sway public opinion in their favour and potentially seize control of the estate’s management.

“Our commitment has always been to the well-being of the residents and the prosperity of UrbanPrime2. It is regrettable that such tactics are being employed,” stated Mabel Mayokun, a representative of the company, in an email to The Guardian.

Residents of the estate are getting increasingly concerned as the dispute threatens the harmony and operational efficiency of the community.

Meanwhile, calls for transparency, accountability and immediate resolution to the utility crisis are intensifying among the community members. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate this complex dispute even as the community eagerly awaits a resolution that will restore stability and ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential services.
