Delta Command tasks officials against partisanship in discharge of duties
The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Usman Alfadarai, yesterday, called for synergy among security agencies in the state.
He spoke during the pull – out – parade of Assistant Corps Marshal Rotimi Adeleye of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC ), at the Lagos Sector Command headquarters, Ojodu, Lagos.
The Commandant recalled the cordial relationships between the NSCDC and the FRSC, which helped to avert possible crashes and disastrous experiences on the roads, as well as smoke out criminal elements, who often take advantage of motorists or intend to vandalise government property.
Alfadarai said: “In line with the vision of NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, on synergy, collaboration and co-operation with other services, I will contribute my quota to upscale the already established relationship between both services and all others, in a bid to sustain the tangible peace and tranquility being experienced by Lagosians.”
The event was witnessed by service commanders and representatives of different military and paramilitary formations in the state .
MEANWHILE, Delta State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Jimoh Agboola, yesterday, warned 2,979 officers deployed to monitor Saturday elections not to be partisan in the discharge of their duties.
Agboola gave the advice at a strategic summit at the State Command headquarters in Asaba, the state capital.
While enlightening the Officers of their role in the forthcoming gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, he stressed the need for them to monitor and supervise the Polling Units (Pus) to maximally secure their voting areas and report activities real-time, especially at the various black spots as well as ensure officers operate within the guidelines of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said the officers are expected to ensure safety of accredited media personnel, protect sensitive electoral materials by providing escort when the need arises, and effect the arrest of electoral defaulters and offenders.
Agboola charged reporting officers to make accurate reports and channel them through appropriate quarters such as the ICT, Joint Ops room and the state Commandant.
He reiterated the need to acquire more actionable intelligence reports before, during and after the Gubernatorial/House of Assembly elections and such reports should be sent via appropriate channels.
“No officer is permitted to grant press interviews, they should be wary of indecent behaviour in public and kill the quest for personal gains while discharging their electoral duties,” he warned.
