Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday announced that the Red Line Rail project covering Agbado to Otto is ready for commissioning.

Sanwo-Olu in a statement said the completion of the project signals exciting times for Lagos residents.

He disclosed that President Bola Tinubu will perform the commissioning of the project for commercial operations but did not announce a date for the event.

The governor said the Red Line Rail project will help his administration to provide more relief for commuters.

“This significant milestone is a testament to our commitment to enhancing transportation for millions of Lagos residents,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted on X.

The governor said he met with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Beijing and reiterated the government’s dedication to completing the second phase of the Blue Line Rail project.

Sanwo-Olu said the trip to China was to finalise his administration’s plans for an integrated system that will work for Lagosians through a long term partnership.

He expressed gratitude for the collaboration with CCECC and the support of other partners in realizing the project promised to over 22 million Lagosians.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that there were also discussions regarding the fourth Mainland Bridge that is scheduled to begin in March.

“Lagos will continue to work for us all and that’s a promise we intend to keep fulfilling,” Sanwo-Olu said.
